IT Director
What the role is about
To ensure success as an IT Director, you should be very knowledgeable in IT and computer systems. You should have a solid technical background while being able to manage and motivate people. You should have experience in creating and implementing IT policies and systems that will meet objectives and that is aligned with ITIL best practices. You know how to create strategic plans and create IT budgets to meet those growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all technology operations (e.g. network, systems, IT operations, service desk, etc) and evaluate them according to established goals
Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management
Think and plan strategically on how to run and grow all parts of IT.
Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
Purchase efficient and cost effective technological equipment and software
Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to upper management
Coordinate with IT managers and supervise computer scientists, technicians and other professionals to provide guidance
Control budget and report on expenditure
Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts
Take ownership of all IT related issues and see it through until resolution
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or similar.
Minimum 5 years in a VP position or higher.
Proven experience as IT director or similar role
Minimum 10 years experience working in IT-related field
Minimum 8 years experience managing and overseeing IT teams and projects
Excellent leadership skills
Great at organizing, prioritizing, and multitasking
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Exceptional collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in analysis, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
Experience in controlling information technology budget
Experience in leading and facilitation meetings involving technical subject matter experts
In-depth knowledge of ITIL best practice processes and standards
Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule.
